  1. Didn’t really know how else to contact you directly. I’ve been listening to 2.5 Admins for a few months on long commutes to my better-half’s home an hour away. Having listened to every episode, starting at the very beginning, I am now very eager to see a new episode in my queue.

I just have to say, being a “Southern boy” (I’m about an hour & a half from you in SC), I’ve been fantasized by your vernacular, grasp of concept, and reasonable explanation of theories and processes alike. Upon my virgin listening of the pod cast, I knew *nothing* about ZFS. Through what I (lovingly) refer to as a combination of “language immersion and persistence” I’ve now launched several ZFS deployments of which I’m (oddly) proud.

I’m a wanna-be sysadmin from the way back. While you have a few years on me, I’m not far behind you on the age range. At 41 & recently displaced from my “full time” job, I have found solace & comfort in the things I once did for work… then fun… becoming “work” again in a different light. Working for myself (and only myself) has been a blessing and a challenge.

I’ve nothing against Allen. He’s great. I love Jim & his accent (a guy from SC digging on an accent must be worth something). He’s a smart dude. But, I just wanted you to know your conjecture, intellect, wit and verbiage don’t go unnoticed by even the most simple of us.

Thank you for all you do.
    Adam

  2. Hi Jim–Miss your writing at Ars. A small step outside your wheelhouse, but I’m wondering if you can fill me in on support for ZFS on Apple Silicon Macs. I’ve tried searching, but I’m not finding anything recent nor useful.

  3. Thank you so much for the kind words, Adam! And I know *exactly* what you mean by the feeling of gratification when hearing technical analysis delivered with a “down-home” drawl. 🙂
